Acorn Park -- at the intersection of East-West Hwy and Blair Mill Road in South Silver Spring -- is the site of the original Silver Spring so named by Silver Spring's founder, Francis Preston Blair, who's estate was located near by. Behind the acorn monument is the new Discovery Communications Creative Technology Center including colorful exterior murals of historic scenes in Silver Spring.
