Randy
Boehm is the founder of The Gateway Coalition in 1994 and of the
Gateway-Georgia Avenue Revitalization Corporation in 1997. He served
as Co-Chair of the Coalition for seven years and as founding President
of the GGARC for three years. He is by profession an historian with
University Publications of America (a member of the Lexis-Nexis
family of publications), where he specializes in developing publications
documenting American social movements. Among his many editions are
microform collections of records of the Southern Christian Leadership
Conference, the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, the National
Negro Business League, National Association for the Advancement
of Colored People and numerous collections on the modern Black Power
Movement. He has also edited microform editions of the Papers of
Eleanor Roosevelt, Mary McLeod Bethune, Bayard Rustin, and Carter
G. Woodson. He has also worked extensively in the history of American
immigration policy, including Records of the Immigration and Naturalization
Service; and in labor history and women's history, including records
of the Congress of Industrial Organizations and the Records of the
League of Women Voters of the U.S.
Mr. Boehm was educated at Rutgers University, Georgetown University
and the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He is a resident of Takoma
Park where he has been active as a neighborhood association president
and in youth recreation programs.
